Privacy Policy

Last updated: 2026-07-25

This Privacy Policy for Reddit Ad Remover ("we," "us," or "our") describes how and why we might access, collect, store, use, and/or share information when you use our Chrome extension (the "Services").

Reddit Ad Remover has two parts with very different privacy profiles: core ad/spam blocking (100% local, always free, no account needed), and Premium (filters, stats, and backup, which require an account and a subscription, and necessarily involve third-party auth/billing providers). This policy covers both, clearly separated.

If you do not agree with this Privacy Policy, please do not use the Services. Questions or concerns can be sent to dedieuilanga01@gmail.com.

1. What information do we collect?

Core ad/spam blocking (always, for every user)

Nothing. Detecting and hiding promoted, sponsored, and spam content on Reddit's feed and comment threads happens entirely inside your browser. This part of the extension makes no network requests of its own and sends nothing about your Reddit browsing anywhere.

What is stored locally on your device only (chrome.storage.local), never transmitted anywhere:

Premium (only if you create an account)

If you open the account panel and sign up or sign in:

We do not process any sensitive personal information (health, biometric, racial/ethnic origin, religious beliefs, etc.) and we do not collect information from third parties.

2. How do we process your information?

We process account information only to:

We do not process your information for advertising, profiling, or any purpose unrelated to providing the extension's own features.

3. When and with whom do we share your information?

We share account and payment information only with the two processors required to provide Premium, under their own privacy policies:

We do not share information with data brokers, advertisers, or analytics companies, because we don't use any. We have not sold, rented, or shared any personal information with third parties for a business or commercial purpose. We may disclose information if required by law, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case we would notify you.

4. Do we use cookies or tracking technologies?

No. Reddit Ad Remover does not use cookies, web beacons, pixels, or any similar tracking technology, and does not run analytics of any kind, inside the extension or on any page it associates with. The Firebase and Stripe SDKs used for Premium accounts are vendored inside the extension package (never loaded from a CDN at runtime) and used solely for authentication and billing, not for tracking.

5. How do we handle social logins (Google)?

If you choose "Sign in with Google," you'll see Google's own account chooser every time, so you can pick which Google account to use. We receive your name, email address, and profile photo from Google as part of this sign-in. We use this information only to identify your account within the extension; we do not access your Gmail, Drive, contacts, or any other Google data. Your relationship with Google is governed by Google's own privacy policy.

6. Is your information transferred internationally?

Firebase and Stripe operate global infrastructure, including servers in the United States. If you are located outside the United States, your account and payment information may be processed there, under the safeguards each provider maintains for international transfers.

7. How long do we keep your information?

We keep your account and subscription information for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account or cancel your subscription, we retain only what's needed to comply with legal/tax obligations (e.g., transaction records via Stripe), and delete the rest. To request account deletion, contact us (see section 13).

8. How do we keep your information safe?

Account access is protected by Firebase Authentication; your password is never stored or seen by us in plain text. Payment details are handled entirely by Stripe's PCI-compliant infrastructure; this extension's backend never receives or stores card numbers. Firestore security rules restrict all writes to your Premium status to our server; no client, including this extension, can write that field directly. That said, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Do we collect information from minors?

Reddit Ad Remover is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under the minimum age required to use Reddit itself (13, per Reddit's own user agreement). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. What are your privacy rights?

Regardless of where you live, you can:

If you are located in the EEA, UK, Switzerland, Canada, or a US state with its own privacy law (e.g., California's CCPA/CPRA), you may have additional rights under that law, including the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Because we collect only an email address, authentication credential, and subscription status, and never sell or share data with third parties for advertising, most of these rights are already satisfied by the deletion/access process above.

11. Permissions this extension requests

The extension requests no access to your browsing history or cookies.

12. Do we make updates to this policy?

We update this Privacy Policy only when necessary, such as when a feature, processor, or legal requirement changes. The "Last updated" date at the top will reflect the most recent revision. Material changes will be noted in the extension's release notes.
